Freshman Maroon beats Alvin 33-0
The Pearland Freshman Maroon team improved their season record to 8-0 with a 33-0 shutout win over the Alvin Yellowjackets. The Oilers fought hard against a determined Alvin team.

The game started off with running back Dustin Garrison returning the opening kickoff down to the Alvin 30-yard line. Backup running back Cameron Ehrlich stepped up with an outstanding effort that included three rushing touchdowns and one punt return for a score. Ehrlich also played safety on defense.

Quarterback Trey Anderson had an outstanding game completing passes to wide receivers Samuel Ukwuachu, Brock Hartson, and Charlie Mack. The offense moved consistently down the field with each possession led by center Derek Hoffpauir and fullback Lamar McKinney.

The Defense was equally impressive as they allowed only three first downs for the entire game.

Led by linebacker Mario Gomez and defensive tackle Nikolas Bryant, the defense controlled the Alvin offense. Safety Matt Greenawalt also had his second interception of the season against the Jackets.

Overall the Maroon team looked good as they effortlessly defeated the Alvin Yellowjackets.

The Oilers will be in Galveston on Thursday, November 1 to take on the Galveston Ball Tornados at 7:00 p.m.

Freshman Maroon rush past Clear Creek 28-7

The Freshman Maroon team remained undefeated at 7-0 for the season after defeating the Clear Creek Wildcats 28-7. The win helped to secure the top spot in the district standings as both teams entered the contest with a perfect league record.

The Oilers offensive line led the team to victory clearing the way for four touchdown runs.

Quarterback Myles Kanipes continues to guide the offense attack. He scored on two one-yard keepers.

The offensive line, led by Derek Hoffpauir, also cleared the way for touchdown runs by running backs Dustin Garrison covering 12-yards and Cameron Erlich who scored on an eight-yard run. Quarterback Trey Anderson also added offensive yards completing passes to Kanipes. Overall the offense dominated the Clear Creek defense controlling the tempo of the game.

Defensively, the Oilers played one of their best games of the year as they limited a good Creek offense to minimal yardage.

The Oiler defense forced four fumbles as linebackers Mario Gomez and Cameron Ehrlich were joined by outside linebackers Cameron Pool and DeAndre Ray in shutting down the Wildcats. Defensive linemen Nikolas Bryant and Samuel Ukwuachu held the Creek runners in check throughout the game.

The Oilers will host the Alvin Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25 in their quest to captue the District 24-5A championship.
