Freshman Maroon take out Alvin 33-12
The Pearland Freshman Maroon team defeated the Alvin Yellowjackets 33-12 on Thursday night to secure an undefeated season and wrap up the district championship.

The Oilers trailed 6-0 early in the game, but Jourdan Brogdon got the Oilers on the board with a touchdown run and Kevin Miller added the extra point giving the Oilers a 7-6 lead.

Josh Gonzales scored next for the Oilers on the ground and Miller’s extra point made the score 14-6 midway through the first quarter. Gonzales found the end zone again to make the score 21-6 following Miller’s extra point at the end of the first quarter which would be the score at intermission.

Neither team scored in the third quarter, but the Yellowjackets found paydirt early in the fourth quarter to close the gap to 21-12.

The Oilers came charging back as Brogdon scored his second touchdown giving the Oilers a 27-6 advantage midway through the final period.

D.J. Durio recovered a Miller onside kick and Gonzales scored his third touchdown of the game with less than a minute remaining in the game to make the final score 33-12.

Brogdon and Gonzales also led the defensive charge to limit the Yellowjackets to twelve points. Robert Shelton, Jack Andrews, Miller, Dennis Walls, and Durio also played great on the defensive side of the football.

The offensive line of Landon Westbrook, Seth Dornak, Matt Wilkinson, Josh Moody, Cameron Wilson, Shelton, Andrews, Chase Campbell, and Zach Whipple played very physical football and helped the Oilers ground attack be successful throughout the game.

The Oilers finished the season 8-0 overall and 4-0 in district. Congratulations on a great season to the coaches and players.
