Freshman (Maroon) Past Game Notes

Freshman
Maroon blast Clear Creek 41-17
The Pearland Freshmen Maroon team dominated the Clear Creek Wildcats
41-17 for a homecoming victory at The Rig.
D.J. Durio and Kevin Miller hooked up on a 40-yard touchdown pass
to get the Oilers on the scoreboard to make the score 7-0 after
Miller added the extra point.
Michael Blackmon scored a touchdown putting the Oilers up 13-0.
The defense added a safety to make the score 15-3 midway through
the second quarter.
Josh Gonzales put the Oilers up 21-10 with a 40-yard fumble return
for a touchdown.
Quarterback Sam Allen fired a scoring strike to Dennis Walls covering
30-yards to make the score 28-10 following Miller's extra point
just before intermission.
Carrier found the end zone in the third quarter behind great blocking
by the offensive line and a devastating block by Jarrod Stewart.
The Oilers led 34-17 at the end of the third period.
Allen connected with Ray Patche in the fourth quarter to make the
final score 41-17.
Leading the defensive charge was Stewart, Jourdan Brogdon, Cary
Ross, Mario Turner, Patche and Gonzales.
The offensive line of Landon Westbrook, Zach Whipple, Chase Campbell,
Jack Andrews, Seth Dornak, Robert Shelton, Cameron Wilson, and Matt
Wilkinson once again did a tremendous job of opening holes for the
Oilers ground game all night.
The Maroon team will wrap up their season on Thursday, October 3
at Alvin at 6:30 p.m. at Yellowjacket Stadium.

Freshman Maroon take out Brazoswood 41-27
The Pearland Freshman Maroon team defeated the Brazoswood Buccaneers
41-27 in a battle between two unbeaten teams in district play. The
victory improves the Oilers season record to 6-0 and 2-0 in district.
Kasey Carrier led the charge on the ground for the Oilers with three
touchdowns. Quarterback Sam Allen connected with Kevin Miller for
a three-yard scoring pass to make the score 21-14 Oilers at the half.
The scoring toss was set up by Allen's 20-yard completion to Tyler
Sander.
Jarrod Stewart and Jourdan Brogdon each added a score in the second
half to secure the win.
The offensive line had an outstanding game which was led by Robert
Shelton, Zach Whipple, Landon Westbrook, Chase Campbell, Jack Andrews,
Seth Dornak, and Matt Wilkinson. The warriors in the trenches did
an excellent job of pushing the Bucs off the ball all night.
Leading the defensive charge was Brogdon, Stewart, Andrews, and Cary
Ross. The entire defensive unit did a great job of limiting the Bucs
to 13 points in the second half.
The Oilers will host the Clear Creek Wildcats on Thursday, October
27 at The Rig at 6:30 p.m. |

Freshman Maroon defeats Ball High 33-6
The Pearland Freshman Maroon squad knocked off Ball High Freshman
33-6 after a two week layoff due to Hurricane Rita. The lapse didn't
affect the Oilers as they took care of business to improve their season
record to 5-0 and 1-0 in district play.
Kasey Carrier scored the first Pearland touchdown on a 20-yard scamper.
The extra point was blocked leaving the Oilers in front 6-0.
It didn't take long for Pearland to get back on the scoreboard as
Michael Blackmon scored on a six-yard run. The two-point conversion
was no good as the Oilers were ahead 12-0.
Quarterback Sam Allen tossed a 15-yard scoring pass to Jourdan Brogdon.
Kevin Miller added the extra point to increase the Pearland lead to
19-0. Blackmon scored his second touchdown of the game on a seven-yard
run to make the halftime score 26-0 following the extra point by Miller.
Jarrad Stewart capped the scoring for the Oilers in the third quarter
with a 25-yard dash to the end zone. Miller booted the extra point
giving Pearland a commanding 33-0 advantage.
Defensively, the Oilers dominated throughout the game allowing the
Tornadoes to score in the final period. Dantrayal Smith, Brogdon,
Stewart, and Ryan Hepler provided strong leadership for the defense.
Ball had a tough time running and throwing the ball because of the
defensive pressure the entire game.
The Maroon team has an open date, but will return to action when they
travel to Brazoswood on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m.

Pearland Freshman Maroon whitewash Victoria Memorial 32-0
The Pearland Freshman Maroon took care of business against Victoria
Memorial 32-0 to improve their season record to 4-0 in dominating
fashion.
Kasey Carrier scored two touchdowns rushing while Michael Blackmon
got in on the scoring parade with another scoring run covering 10
yards.
The Oilers took to the airways as Sam Allen fired a 40-yard scoring
pass to Kevin Miller. Miller scored again when he recovered a fumble
in the Victoria end zone to post the 32-0 final score.
The defense turned in a stellar performance by forcing seven turnovers
as Jourdan Brogdon, Jarrad Stewart, Miller, Josh Gonzales and Dantrayal
Smith stepped up in key roles against the hapless Vipers.

Pearland
Freshmen Maroon edge Memorial 21-14
The Pearland Freshmen Maroon team defeated the Spring Branch Memorial
Mustangs 21-14.
The Oilers found themselves down 7-0 at halftime, but running back
Jarrod Stewart had a strong second half behind outstanding blocking
by the offensive line to score two times while Jourdan Brogdon added
another touchdown run giving the Oilers the victory.
Battling in the trenches on offense included Jack Andrews and Zach
Whipple who continuously pushed the Mustangs off the ball opening
running lanes for the backs.
Playing well defensively for the Oilers was Dantrayal Smith, Mario
Turner, Brogdon, Stewart and Kevin Miller who picked off his third
interception of the year.
The Oilers travel to Victoria next week to take on the Memorial Vipers
on Thursday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. The Freshman Maroon are 3-0
for the season. Directions

the business 59 exit in Victoria and go to Laurent Street. Take
a left and proceed on Laurent street and go under the railroad tracks
and the stadium should be on your left.

Pearland
Freshman Maroon dominate Elkins 41-12
The
Pearland Oilers Freshmen Maroon team defeated the Elkins Knights 41-12
at Elkins High School to improve their season record to 2-0.
Kasey Carrier led the Pearland ground attack with two scores while
Sam Allen, Jourdan Brogdon, and Michael Blackmon each added a rushing
touchdown to help aid the Oiler offense. Allen also connected on a
60-yard scoring bomb to Kevin Miller to complete the scoring.
The offensive line battled in the trenches as Robert Shelton, Landon
Westbrook, Jack Andrews, and Seth Dornak did a great job of moving
the Knights off the ball allowing the Oilers to have great success
on offense.
The defensive unit put together another strong performance limiting
the Knights to only 12 points. Josh Gonzales had a pass interception,
Dantrayal Smith recovering a fumble, and Miller also picked off an
enemy aerial to contribute to the defensive effort. Good play also
came from linebackers Jourdan Brogdon and Jarrod Stewart.
The Freshman Maroon prepare to take on Spring Branch Memorial next
Thursday, September 8 at The Rig at 6:30 p.m.

Pearland Freshman Maroon slam Kempner 47-6
The Pearland Freshman Maroon squad pounded Kempner 47-6 to win their
2005 season opener.
Kasey Carrier scored three times while Jarrad Stewart, Josh Gonzales,
Nick Trapp, and Sam Allen also got in on the scoring act as each one
scored once for the Oilers.
The Pearland defensive unit was led by Jourdan Brogdon, Cary Ross,
Dantrayal Smith, Kevin Miller and Stewart.
The offensive line and fullback Marcus Dimas had an outstanding game
blocking against the Kempner defense that allowed the Oilers to find
paydirt seven times on the ground.
Pearland Maroon will host the Elkins Knights on Thursday, September
1, at 6:30 p.m. at Elkins. Take 288 south to Hwy 6. Turn right on
Hwy 6. Turn left on Flat Bank. Elkins HS is on Flat Bank. Auxillary
stadium is next to the HS. |
