JV Maroon slams Alvin JV 42-8

The Pearland JV Maroon team traveled to Alvin and returned home with a dominating 42-8 victory.

The Oilers scored points in bunches as they scored 26 points in a span of four minutes just before halftime.

The game was scoreless until Kelly Cross found Charles Ortiz for a 25-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Cross then hit Matt LeJune for a three-yard pass for the two point conversion to make the score 8-0.

Alvin fumbled on their next possession and Cross went back to work hitting LeJune for a 45-yard pass that got the Oilers to the one-yard line. Cross then scored on a quarterback sneak. LeJune shifted to quarterback and scored on the two-point conversion making the score 16-0.

The defense forced Alvin to punt. The Jacket center snapped the ball over the punter's head into the endzone where Pearland registered a safety making the score 18-0.

The Oilers got the ball back with 1:30 left in the half and Cross hit Ortiz for a 30-yard TD pass. Ortiz then added the two-point conversion with a run around the right side for a 26-0 lead at intermission.

Alvin fumbled the second half kickoff giving Pearland the ball deep in Jacket territory.
Matt LeJune hit Nick Trapp for an 18-yard scoring pass and Blake Allen kicked the extra point for a 33-0 lead.

After an Alvin touchdown, the Oilers then answered with a Malcolm Proctor 20-yd touchdown run with Allen again adding the extra point for a 40-8 lead.
The Oiler defense closed out the scoring with their second two-point safety of the game to complete the scoring.

Defensive standouts were Christian Gilford, Trevor Sealy, Leobardo Segovia, and Corbin Smith. The Oilers are now 6-1-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in district play and will host Galveston Ball at The Rig on Thursday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m.
