Oilers receive All-Greater Houston football honors
Pearland had another successful season as the Oilers captured the District 22-6A crown with a perfect 8-0 record and also finished the regular season with a 10-0 mark.
The Oilers advanced to the post-season for the 26th consecutive year and won their opening round with a blowout 59-27 victory over Fort Bend Travis.
Getting past the second round has proven to be a challenge as Pearland came up short against Dickinson 28-21 to close out the 2025 football campaign with an 11-1 mark.
Pearland head coach B.J. Gotte has seen the Oilers improve each season over his last four years at the helm. Gotte now has a 33-14 record since arriving in Pearland four seasons ago. Pearland was ranked in the top 10 in the state for most of the season moving as high as No. 6 in the state.
Recently, the Houston Chronicle released their top two All-Greater Houston teams featuring the top offensive and defensive gridiron standouts in the area. Pearland had two players selected on offense and two players on defense.
Senior offensive lineman Nicholas Howard, who is a University of Pittsburgh commit, had 17 decleaters and allowed only one sack while providing excellent pass protection for QB Jake Westmoreland and blocking for the stable of Pearland running backs all season. Howard was a first team selection on offense.
Senior linebacker Joseph Credit was selected to the first-team defense as he led the Oilers on that side of the ball. Pearland had one of the top defenses in Houston and Credit led the way with 100 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 25 QB hurries, nine sacks, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries with one touchdown, and one interception. Credit is a University of Kansas commit.
Senior running back Ja’Maurey Champion was one of the top rushers in the Houston area and the leading ball carrier for Pearland. Champion had 194 carries for 1,610 yards (8.3 avg.) and 25 touchdowns.
Senior defensive lineman Amari Wilks was named to the second-team as he had 64 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, three-and-a-half sacks, 13 pressures, and one blocked punt. Wilks is a Louisiana Tech commit.
