“We also have some young players we are excited to see contribute this year, including junior WR
Kaleb Samuels, junior WR Braxton Jones, and sophomore RB Royce Swan,” said Gotte.
Offensively, the Oilers will lack experience on the offensive line. “We lost three starters on the offensive
line last year as well as our top two tight ends,” Gotte said. “We do have some experience coming back
from returning letterman, but I do expect there to be a period of adjustment early in the season as the new
players gain confidence and experience.”
The strength for Pearland will be on defense as they have four Division I players who are being heavily
recruited at the collegiate level. “Our front seven (LB’s and D-line) are our most experienced and dynamic
group, with six out of the seven returning starters,” said Gotte. “Our expectation is they can control the line
of scrimmage while the rest of our defense gets comfortable at the beginning of the year.”
The Oilers will be looking to advance to the post-season for the 26th consecutive season while
anticipating a deep run in the playoffs. It is an exciting time of the year and a great time to be an Oiler!
Coach Gotte is vested in the process, development, and growth that will bring excitement to the
program, campus, and community. He leads by example and is a great leader and role model for Pearland
ISD. The impact of his strong leadership has already been felt by the coaching staff and players, and it is
having a positive influence in the right direction.
Gotte received a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Lutheran where he was an outstanding football player
in college. He is married to wife, Lisa, who is a Regional Residential Property Manager, and they have two
children, Keegan and Gavin. Gotte enjoys spending time with family and friends.
